Perfect pink lip! NYX Butter Gloss Review (Day 18 of 25 days of blogging)

Hello everyone!  Today I have a review for you on a lip gloss that I LOVE.  It is NYX Buttergloss in EClair. Its pretty much amazing. Its so creamy and pigmented. I just love this brand of gloss.

ECLAIR is a pretty pink color and like I said, very pigmented.

But when I mix it with Maybellines Color Whisper Lust for Blush (seen in a previous post) I have the perfect pink lip.
As you can see, they're a perfect match.

Thr Buttergloss is scentless so it doesn't give you that weird lipgloss taste or smell.
You can purchase NYX products online, ulta, or target-which is where i purchased mine.
I actually have two of the Buttergloss and the price on them is between $5-$6 but worth it.
I throw this gloss on pretty much daily .
It is a great go-to gloss that goes with anything.

Why you should by product from a salon-not drugstores.

Hello everyone . We are over half done with 25 days of blogging!! Today I want to talk about an issue that goes on in the beauty world and something I feel strongly about.

As a stylist,  I have many clients tell me that they cannot produce the same results at home as their stylist does in the salon. We do our best to educate everyone on how to style their hair at home, and with that comes recommendation of products to create that look. But only about 30% of people actually purchase products from the salon.
A lot of people think they can go buy something similar off the drugstore shelf. To be clear, this is not an indictment of actual chain store hair care lines, such as Garnier and Organix, and if those work for you that’s great.  I’m talking about lines such as Matrix, Paul Mitchell, etc, that are only sold by their companies to salons and then weirdly end up in the same place as paper towels and groceries.

You should NEVER go out and buy "salon" products such as "Big Sexy Hair' "Bed Head"(etc)at WalMart or CVS or Walgreens etc. And here is why.

You don’t know what’s REALLY in that bottle: Retailers that are not hair salons are not legally allowed to sell salon brand products. This means they often obtain these brands from wholesalers who go out of business or have shady business practices (notice how they never have an entire product line in stock).
Retailers often set them aside in a warehouse for years until the barcode expires so they can't be tracked.  During this time, not only does the barcode expire but so does the product inside, warping from heat. The products you love may be well beyond their expiration date, left sitting in a hot warehouse for “who knows how long”, or even diluted or tampered with.
"I can tell you first hand that I found a whole shelf of Aveda gels at CVS (priced exactly the same as in the salon) that were yellow in color. I’ve worked with Aveda long enough to know that gel is supposed to be clear. Ew, gross!"
"I also have a friend who used to buy her Bumble and Bumble online because she could get the liter sizes and save $5 to $10. She used the same conditioner for years getting consistent results until the last bottle she bought tangled her hair instantly and made it feel dry and brittle. After I spoke with her about it and explained that these items can easily be tampered with (think about it, none of them are sealed before use), she agreed it wasn’t worth saving $10 if she couldn’t even guarantee the conditioner she loved was what’s inside the bottle."
Some of the largest professional brands in our industry are amongst the most frequently diverted. Many of these companies have spent millions of dollars in research to help battle this illegal activity and in doing so, they’ve uncovered alarming facts.

However, something that you can easily spot is that that the bottles of salon products that are sold at chains stores pretty often have weird stickers all over them, and ALWAYS a sticker with a different barcode slapped over the original barcode printed on the bottle.

Not only were their products being sold at drugstore often expired, but they found many of them were filled with bacteria and some were even replaced completely with cheap lotions and creams trying to pass for the salon brand conditioner you thought you were buying.
We know everyone wants to save money where they can, but the prices at these places are rarely different than ours in salon. And buying from your stylist is truly the only way to know what you’re spending your money on. so the bottom line is that as long as there are people doing hair within the same walls as you, you're good to go.
I hope this helps shed some light on the subject of why it’s important to buy your hair care products from your stylist. This is a subject I feel strongly about and would love to educate people on. Any questions -I would love to answer.

Brush cleaning ( Day 14 of 25 days of blogging)

Hey everyone!  I recently did wedding makeup for a beautiful bride and her bridesmaids so I had to get my brushes clean.

It's very important to keep your brush clean not only to get best quality of your makeup, but also because of germs.
I do a terrible job on remembering because I have a bazillion brushes.  But every time I do, I'm glad because my makeup just goes on so much better and looks better. So here's how I do it:
What you'll need:
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Dawn Dish soap

And all you need to do is a half and half mixture of each. I mix mine on a plate. And then I run my brushes through the mixture . I then take the brushes and rub them back in forth in my hand . You can just see the built up makeup come off. And then I run it through warm water until the water runs clean and there's no soap left.
The olive oil is optional but works great for keeping the bruses soft.

After washing them I place them on a towel to dry over night. And I never have problems with them being dry in the morning.

So this is my fast efficient way of getting my brushes clean. Try it out!

Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum (Day 13 of 25 days of blogging)

Hello again!  I'm here with one of my all time favorite hair products!  Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum.

I absolutely love this stuff. My holy grail hair oil. It is moisturizing and smoothing but helps cut my drying time in half. The smell is kinda fruity and pleasant . I use this every time I wash my hair. Sometimes I don't blow dry my hair and this stuff seems to cut down drying time when I just let it air dry. I also use it on dry hair and it really tames down my frizzes and mends my ends together.   A little goes a long wait-like I'm talking about a dime sized amount. It also leaves a nice shine on my hair. Provides heat protection as well. This is a reliable product that I have repurchased many times and will continue to do so.
I recommend this product for people with dry damaged hair, curly frizzy hair, color treated or highlighted hair. I just feel like this is an all over good product for anyone in the winter time because its nourishing and puts the shine and life back into the hair. So a must-have for girls I think.
The bottles come in three different sizes:
.85 oz usually costs around $8 at ulta or salons. (even the small bottles lasts a LONG time)
5.1oz is usually $17-18
And 8.5oz $24-$28.
Please remeber NOT to buy this product unless its from Ulta or salons. If you purchase from drugstores such as Walmart or Shopko-you are NOT getting the true product.

Bed Head Antidote Recovery conditioner(Day 12 of 25 day of blogging)

Hey everyone! I apologize that I've been so behind in my blogs!  I've been super swamped in the salon with Christmas fast approaching and with last minute Christmas shopping.  But no worries! I have plenty of Blogging for you!

Here is a review on a conditioner that I love. BedHead Antidotes Recovery conditioner.  I LOVE this stuff. It smells heavenly and leaves my hair feeling restored and moisturized. My thirsty locks were quenched with my first use, and keeps getting better and better with each ongoing session. This is gentle enough to use daily. And even after my hair is dried and styled the smell still lingers and I love it. If you have chemical treated hair, highlights, and use hot tools WOW!!!! Some days I leave it on for about 10-15 min after I wash my hair, like while I shave my legs and rinse and I can't believe how it leaves my hair feeling.
I mention it here in my Beauty haul video:

I don't have the shampoo but I feel as if the conditioner does the job for me.
You can purchase this product at Ulta or salons for between $25-$30. It is on the expensive side but it is a liter bottle. Please remember NOT to buy salon products from WalMart. They are not the true products and you are not getting what you pay for.

So recap:
Price- $25-$30
Where to purchase- Ulta or Salons
Who should use this- Anyone with color treated hair, highlighted, distressed dry hair, and if you use hot tools.

Premade healthy smoothie (Day 11 of 25 days if blogging)

Hello! On the 11th day of Christmas my true love gave to me: A healthy smoothie recipe.  (Laugh because it was cute)  Anywhoooo- I'm trying to get back on track with healthy eating and starting to go to the gym again. But I dont always have time to get up in the morning and pull ingredients out of my kitchen and make a smoothie. So that is why I have premade them! And here's how I did it with 2 recipes.

You will need:
Sandwich Ziplock Bags
Measuring cups

With half of my bags I did a strawberry banana recipe.  For each bag you will need:
1cup Strawberries Quarted (frozen or fresh)
1/2- 1 Banana sliced
1/2cup of oats
1cup vanilla yogurt
1/2-1cup almond milk (depends on consistency)

With the other half I did a "green" smoothie. For this you will need:
3-5 strawberries quarted (frozen or fresh)
1 banana
and either peaches, pineapple, or apple (I used 4 frozen peaches)
1 handful of spinach leaves
1cup of greek vanilla yogurt

I then placed my baggies in a line and proceeded to fill them with the ingredients-everything except the yogurt and milk.
I made sure there was no air left in the bafs and sealed them.

For the strawberry smoothie I took a Sharpie and wrote- "Add yogurt and milk" and to my Green Smoothie I wrote "Add yogurt"

And then I put them in my freezer so the only thing I have to do in the morning is pull a bag out of the freezer and add my liquids and blend! Not going to lie the ides if putting spinach in a fruit smoothie grosses me out. .but it's supposed to be super healthy! Im excited to get back on track and share me journey with you all!

EOS Shaving Cream (Day 9 of 25 days of blogging)

Hi everyone!  I had hoped I'd have my Beauty Haul up by today but things got a little crazy. So here's a beauty product for you all!

EOS  Ultra Moisturizing Shaving Cream.
I really love this stuff. It's probably my favorite shaving cream I've ever used. You can use this product wet or dry. Which means you don't have to even shower to shave. Winning!
No nicks or cuts, and as someone with very dry skin, this actually moisturizes my skin leaving no irritation bumps or anything.
My ONLY issue, is that once I used almost all of the product up (and I couldn't pump anymore out of the bottle), I unscrewed the top, and found there was still a decent amount left, stuck to the sides. So I had to manually scrape out the remnants with the pump and wipe it off on my leg. But other than that, no complaints!! They have 3 different scents of which I have had the Raspberry and Vanilla
A lot of people complain this is "too expensive" . I purchased my bottle for $3-$4 at WalMart and honestly thought it was worth the price.
I give this product a 4.5/5
The only reason it isn't a 5 is because of it being difficult to get the remainder of product out. But it gives me such a close shave while moisturizing and giving me the option to do it wet or dry!!
I hope you guys are enjoying my 25 days of blogging!  I've been trying to give revieews on various products!  If you have any suggestions please feel free to let me know!! Also-Follow me on Instagram:: @wisconsinhair_and_makeup!
Love you all!

NYX Above and Beyond Concealer (Day 8 of 25 days of Blogging)

Happy Sunday! Here is day 8 for you guys!  And its actually a product I am not a fan of::NYX Above and Beyond Concealer.
I picked this up at Ulta for $5- looking for a nice creamy under eye highlighter.
I was not impressed.

It doesn't: cover or blend well. It dries out my skin. And it settles in creases.
I was really excited to try it and immediately disappointed. The product is sooo creamy and smooth to the touch, which you would think would be great But that's about where it starts and ends.
If you were to apply JUST this concealer and no foundation/powder, then this product would be great. But no one does that, or else you look like you have random blotches all over your face. The issue is that this concealer will instantly wear off as soon as you put on anything over it. I always find myself having to put it on over my foundation, and even then it doesn't stay all that well.
It does come in various shades including purple and greens for corrective color. But definitely not for me.
The only reason I keep this product around is to clean up bumpy lines on my eyeliner or brow lines. Works great for that!

Too Faced Queen Size Mascara.

Hello everyone!  Today I have a mascara to review for you! I know I just did one, but can't ever go wrong with mascara!
This mascara is Too Faced Queen Size. This was my first name brand mascara I have ever purchased! The reason I bought it was because I think Chelsea Huska from Teen Mom is like the prettiest girl ever. Her makeup is flawless and her eyes are gorgeous and mine,  well they're not.  So when I found out this is the mascara she uses I NEEDED it. Well then after purchasing it.  I lost it... 6 months later... (maybe longer) I found it. Still im perfect condition and never used!!

I think it's a great formula. The only problem I have with this mascara is the brush is huge. I have fine, short eyelashes so I have a hard time with that huge brush. However,  if I use Queen Sized as a top coat, it works great!! It really does add volume and length. I feel like if you have medium coarse eyelashes, you'd love this mascara.

You can find this mascara online,  Sephora or ulta for $21-$23.
I rate this mascara 3.5/ 5. Only because the brush is huge for me.but all and all- probably worth it for most people.

Maybelline Color Whisper Review (day 6 of 25 days of blogging)

Hey everyone!  Here is a review on Maybelline Color whisper lipstick in Lust for Blush! If this name sounds familiar it's because they also carry this color in their Matte Collection!

I love this lipstick. It's so creamy and pigmented!  It's very true to color.

You can find this at most drugstores and Ulta for between $6-$7.

And if you love this color Maybelline also carries 20 other shades in the color whisper collection!

I actually came across this color when I was shopping for my boyfriend's sister's wedding. Saw it on pinterest! And it just so happen that its a dupe for Mac Frost Angel lipstick!  Can't go wrong paying$7 instead of 20!

I rate this product 4/5 because the only downfall I have is having to apply it after eating. Other than that I love it. It is moisturizing and pigmented.  The perfect pink shade I must say!

I look forward to trying out more from this line!  Hope you all enjoyed day 6 of 25 days of Blogging!

Hey everyone!  I had a video ready to go for day two of 25 days of Blogging,  but I don't think it's going to finish uploading by the end of tonight.
So here is a review on the Naked 3 Pallet! I believe this is the pallet every girl should own for the holidays.  It is the perfect blend of Pinks and Golds!

Here is the swatches of the pallet! This is how pigmented the colors are when you use a eye primer with it. So pigmented. So beautiful. And so easy to blend.
I use this pallet daily.
My favorite color combo is:
Strange on browline
Nooner on/in crease
Limit above crease to blend
Dark side on outer Vs

Love love love it.

Where to get this product?
Ulta, Sephora, Urban Decay website

What is the price for this product?

Day 1: Biore Deep Charcoal Cleanse Face Wash (25 days of Blogging!)

Happy First Day of December everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and ate plenty of food-I know I did! Anyone who knows me, knows that ABCFamily's 25 Days of Christmas is like my favorite thing on Earth! So as I've been looking forward to that, I thought to myself, "Why not do 25 days of Blogging"..umm genius.

So here I am! Starting my 25 day's of blogging. Check in with me everyday for a new blog!!
Since it's day 1 of my 25 days of blogging-It's time for a review! And I'm excited to share my thoughts on this product with you all!

Biore Deep Pore CharcoalCleanser

Okay, so I purchased this stuff after purchasing the Charcoal Self-Heating Mask. (I'll do another review on that later). I was kind of iffy about this product because I tried another one of their Face Scrubs and I was not happy at all. But I gave in, purchased it, used it and WOW! After two uses I could tell a significant difference in my face. I've only owned this wash for a little over a week but I stopped using my Clearasil face wash and all the other ones I have and now use this twice daily. I could not be any happier with the results.
When applying this product, it foams nicely at my fingertips and then I use my Olay ProX Brush for a good cleaning. It has a cool tingly/burning feeling. But NOT a bad burning feeling. It just leaves your face feeling cool and refreshed! Most reviews on other websites have nothing but good things to say too!
Another reason I like this product is because after reading I came across"Use this product to enhance results of Biore Deep Cleanse Strips" and if you follow me, You know I'm a HUGE fan of their strips. So After using it last night, I immediately stuck on a nose strips and the results fantastic! (gross, but fantastic) I could tell the results this time we're much better than others!

How do I rate this product?
I would have to give this product a 5 star rating. I'm very happy with the results from this product and I would not think twice about repurchasing.

Where to purchase this product?
Most drugstores have Biore Products readily available

How much is this product?
I bought this at our Hometown ShopKo for $7...but if you have a WalMart or Target nearby, you can purchase for around $6 or less!

So there it is! My first day of 25 days of Blogging! I hope you all enjoyed this post, and I really do recommend this product to anyone is suffering from: clogged pores, black heads, white heads. You won't be disappointed!

Don't forget to check my out on YouTube (Sierra Coulthard) and follow me on instagram( @wisconsinhair_and_makeup)!
