Instant tan

Hey everyone! So I just posted a picture on my beauty page of a Before and After of an instant tan and it was a hit! A lot of people want to know how I got it and here it is!

I use to be an employee at Sun Tan City and they have a sunless tanning bed(spray tan). I fell in love. Like I mentioned in my Self Tanner post, I don't lay in a tanning bed so I'm always searching for the perfect tan.

At Sun Tan City they have an automatic spray tan booth that is 100% cosmetic and takes literally 5-10 minutes, depending how fast you can dress and undress.

The machine's name is Vikki and she walks you through the process while you're in the booth. It sprays you four times front, right side, left side, back aidwe. It then dries you twice in the back and twice in the front. And BOOM you're done. The tan then develops in the next 4-6 hours, so I don't recommend shower for 6-8 hours.

The Spray Tan has many different options to accommodate to everyone's skin tones.

It has a Tinted option where the tan appears right away but still develops in the 4-6 hours.

The Clear option is where you get sprayed but it shows up gradually versus right away.

I always get the tinted because a good tan makes me feel 10x better about myself.

They come in 3 different shades, light, medium, and dark. I get the medium.
You just have to be careful choosing the level or it may be too dark for you. The tanning consultants are trained to help you pick what's best for you!

There are some products you can pick up right at the tanning salon to help you maintain your tan. ALWAYS exfoliate beforehand.  The tan should last aboit 7 days!

If you're into tanning in the bed, they offer a "Double Dip" which is tanning in the bed and then the spray tan.
If you go to the salon Sun-Wednesday, your first one is free!

I love this tanning method more than any, it's fast and easy and streak-free and perfect for any occasion!

Night time beauty!

Hey everyone! I know I had a post on things you should be doing before bed to wake up feeling pretty, but this post is directly focused on your face!
Recently I purchased Kat Von D Lockit Foundation.  I love the coverage it gives but if you have dry skin, it shows. The tip of my nose is ridiculously dry so I've been working hard on maintaining it so I can wear this wonderful foundation!

I went to Ulta in search of an amazing night time moisturizer and the lady recommend this Sea Weed Night Mask. It's a heavy cream for night time. And turns out I love it. I purchased for $20. This is the last thing I put on before bed.
I use my GlamGlow MudMask a couple times a week. I know everyone thinks I over sell this product, but seriously it's Amazeballs.. can I say that? Oh well. It is!
Literally extracts dirt and blackheads from your skin and leaves your face feeling awesome! But really, any kind of mud mask or even a pore minimizing mask would do the trick! You can buy those at a drug store and you only have to do it a couple times a week!

After using my mask I turn to my Neutrogena Microdermabrasion System.
I purchased this at Walmart for $20.00 and it was a great purchase! It comes with everytjingt you need to get started! It rids of black heads and polishes your skin! It has two spees settings and you just polish each part of your face for about 2minutes. You only have to do this 2-3 times a week also or until you see results. This leaves your skin feeling amazing, and then apply your night cream!

This routine has left my skin feeling great day and night!  I have noticed the difference in just a weeks time!
What are you favorite night time face products? Have you tried any of these?

Sweat-Proof Your Beauty Routine For Summer!

Hey everyone! Looks like summer is actually on its way here in Wisconsin, and looks like it might actually want to stay! Along with the beautiful sun, every girl know that means a melting face..boooo. But it doesn't have to be like that! Here are some great makeups for summer, and some tips for the rest of your beauty routine also! So put away all the things you used to use for winter and bring on the new!

Long wear formulas are a must for summer!

Sweat-Proof Beauty Trick No. 1 :Get Thee a Primer.

For days when you really want to make sure your makeup stays put, it’s time to turn to primer. You can wear it under your foundation.

Tinted moisturizers are always great, but also include a primer, and a great foundation.

SmashBox Photofinish Primer will be exactly what you're looking for . It's great in every single way. And  you'll even find through research it's highly recommended.

I know good makeup gets kind of pricy, but the great news is, I have a dupe for you! Right in the Drugstore you can buy "Dream Fresh BB Cream" for an outstanding price. It doesn't have the best coverage, so you will need foundation, but it does moisturize and give color correctness and will last all day! I wear the shade light/medium.

My favorite foundation I could go on and on about. Tarte Amazon Clay 12-hour. This foundation is very true to it's name. I was looking for foundations with great coverage for my boyfriend's sister. Her wedding is in August, and is also outside, so I needed something we could really put to the test. I picked this up at Ulta for $38, and to really put it to the test, I wore it to the gym. Through all my nastiness and sweat, my foundation stayed on! I couldn't believe it. I LOVE this stuff. I bought it back in February and actually still have some left. It goes a long way, so you are actually getting what you pay for.

A cheaper foundation that is also great is CoverGirl's NatureLuxe Foundation. It smells like fresh cucumbers(if you're into that) has amazing coverage, light weight, and is SPF10.

Concealers.
An inexpensive concealer I reccommend is NYX's waterproof concelear stick. I think the name says it all. It's creamy and gives good coverage. It lasts all day and is budget-friendly, Under $5

Sweat-Proof  Beauty No 2Get rid of oiliness when you notice it—before it makes your makeup run.
Setting powders are a must have for summer. It's important that it's a light weight powder. Once again, NYX has a great powder that I actually use myself. "Set it & Don't Fret it". It gives your face that matte finish which is very important for Summer.

Choosing the right blush is also really important. A powder or a stain is going to be the best fit for the heat.

Eye shadows are great for summer also. But if you are going to wear eye shadow, the one must have is a primer. Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion has seriously been a game changer for me. It makes my eye makeup last all day, and literally all night .I wake up in the morning and my eye shadow is still in place.
Maybelline's color tattoo eye shadow comes in a range of awesome colors. Lots of mattes and glitter and shimmers!
Sweat Proof Beauty Trick:Wet your brush with a bit of water before dipping it into your eyeshadow,

Sweat-Proof Beauty Trick No. 3 :Switch Your Mascara Formula.

Waterproof mascara will stay put longer. Sensitive eyes? Look for a weatherproof—not waterproof—formula. It’s a bit easier to remove

Sweat-Proof Beauty Trick No. 4 Put On Your Antiperspirant at Night. This gives the ingredients time to start working even before your day begins.

Sweat-Proof Beauty Trick No. 5 :Deal With a Sweaty Head ASAP.When you feel your hair begin to get damp, reach for dry shampoo. My favorite is Redken Pillow Proof.

Sweat-Proof Beauty Trick No. 6 Head Off Scalp Oiliness.

If you’re an active person and you’re having problems controlling the oiliness of your scalp, it’s time to make a switch to shampoo for oily hair. Tea Tree shampoo is great for all times of the year!

So I hope these tips and tricks gives you some help on transforming your makeup bag for the summer!
What are your thoughts? Have you tried any of these products? Or what are your favorite products for the summer?

Work out Wednesday!

Hey everyone! Happy Wednesday! The weekend is among us!
I've been trying hard to get on the fitness track of life. And so far so good. I don't get to the gym nearly as often as I use to, but I'm trying to make up for that in other ways. I have cut wayyy back on soda. I did give it up for awhile but now I find myself drink a 1/2 to a full soda a day. Horrible habit.
But I do indulge in a delicious smoothie every morning! Want to know the skinny on my "skinny drink"?!  Here it is!

1 Cup Ice
1/2 cut frozen berries ( I prefer raspberries or strawberries)
1/2 cup low fat yogurt
1 banana
1/2 cup rolled oats

This is delicious and its almost like a treat to me! It's actually part of Lauren Conrad's "7 Days to Skinny Jeans"

I'll usually have an apple around lunch because they have 0 calories, and you can even sneak some peanut butter in there with them. Yum
Now, I'm only human, and most humans love food..well, at least I do! So yes, sometimes I get carried away, but hey, I'm trying!

My other favorite smoothie includes almond milk. This a GREAT breakfast smoothie
  • 2 large  bananas, peeled, sliced
  • 2 cups almond milk or whole milk
  • 2 cups ice cubes
  • 2 tablespoons (packed) golden brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Ground nutmeg
I also wanted to share some progress with all of you. It's just little steps. I'm not at the gym every day but just changing eating habits can change a lot!

The picture on the left is from June 2013. And the second is From the end of February after I started on  the fitness track in January.
My Grandma came to visit and I haven't seen her since September and she says to me
"You sure did lose all your stomach and hips didn't you!"
I am so proud of myself, and once you start seeing progress its good, but when others start to notice, its that much better!

Are you wearing the right makeup for you?

Hey everyone! I got a request on how to choose the right makeup for yourself! With seasons changing, so do makeup trends. Your skin gets darker or lighter so you need to adapt to the new "shade". You can either go and get a complete makeover and have a make up artist tell you what to do, or you can learn right here all by yourself!
Choosing a foundation
1. Wear a white shirt
Make sure you're standing in natural lighting, this will make a huge difference! Determine your skin tone. Look to see if your skin looks more warm- yellow/red
Or cool-pink/blue.  This color will be the underlying pigment. There are many skin colors but only two skin tones: warm or cool.Once you determine this, you're one step closer to choosing the right foundation.
2. Find a foundation that matches exactly to your skin
You may have to update from summer to winter depending on if your skin tone changes, which most do.
3. Try out the foundation
Most people try out their foundation on their hand.. but that will not be the right test. The best place to test foundation is right on your jawbone.
Choosing blush
Blush is meant to highlight your cheek bones, so choose something subtle, not something streaky.
-try a beige or tawny if you are faired skin
-darker skin should use plums for coolr colors or bronzed for warm
-medium skin tones should look into peach, rose, or corals
Choosing eyeshadows
You can have so.much fun with eyeshadows! But make sure you're choosing colors that compliment your eye color and skin tones
Blue eyes: stay away from blues! Purples, browns, taupes, and slates are the way to go!
Brown eyes: brown eyes can pull off pretty much anything but to make your eyes pop, use: greens, pinks. Also try blues or golds
Green/Hazel eyes: Various purples. Or for a more natural try warm tones such as mocha browns.
I hope this was helpful information in helping you pick the right makeup for you!

Makeup tips and tricks for girls with glasses

"Boys don't like girls who wear glasses".....NOT! That ship has sailed and wearing glasses is cooler than ever. With tons of amazing frames out there it's even easier to use them as a fun fashion accessory! I've read some really bad tips and tricks for applying makeup for the people who wear glasses. Plus, there are way too many "tricks" being suggested and it doesn't need to be that complicated. Ain't no one got time for that! Keep it simple, master these simple rules and then start getting creative.

Here are my top 10 tricks for wearing makeup AND glasses. I promise the two can get along quite nicely if you follow these simple rules.

1. Save the bright colors for your lips
Listen...I love neon as much as the next guy (that's not true, I love it, just not on my eyes) but your eyes are not the place to experiment with the latest acid-green eye shadow  IF you wear specs. Keep your shadow colors in the neutral family so you don't appear garish and clown-like. Some great palettes to check out are herehere and here. If you MUST use a pop of color, try a jewel-toned gel liner in a contrasting shade from your eye color this will allow you to be playful while still making your eyes pop. Just keep the rest simple.
2. Don't skip the mascara
I've heard so many ninnies say "Mascara sticks to lenses!  You can't wear mascara with glasses!" Well...yeah...if you don't let it dry first OR curl your lashes (see #4). Exercise some common sense here. Apply mascara, wait for it to dry. Put glasses on. Mascara really opens up the eyes. Don't skip it just because you wear glasses!
3. Use a peach or yellow based concealer under eyes
Glasses can sometimes cast dark circles under our eye area.Get rid of the raccoon effect by applying a creamy peach or yellow  ( under-eye concealer and setting with a very fine milled loose powder like this or this.
4. Curl your lashes
This goes without saying. Every woman with eyelashes should be doing this. Period. Non-negotiable. It's amazing how this one quick step will open up the eyes. And if you have stick-straight lashes, this will help keep them from poking your lenses. Tip: Warm up your eyelash curler  with a blowdryer before applying to lashes!
5. Don't go too dark with your shadow
Wearing glasses can make eyes appear darker (and smaller depending on your prescription) than they really are. This doesn't mean you can't carefully apply a crease color, just make sure to keep it above the lid but below the brow bone and keep the color civilized.
6. Thick frames? Thicker liner. Thin frames? Thin liner.
You don't want your pretty liner getting lost behind those thick horn-rims or your dramatic liquid-lined cat eye overpowering your dainty wireless specs! Make sure to step up your eyeliner game if you're rocking some big, hipster glasses and take it down a few octaves if your frames are very thin or non-existent.
7. Don't forget your skin
Don't think for one second people won't notice your skin just because you're wearing glasses! Make sure to refine your complexion with BB or CC cream to even things out. Don't forget a sweep of a rosy blush to your cheeks.
8. Make sure your brows are defined
This is such a no-brainer that it almost pains me to mention it. They should be shaped at all times but ESPECIALLY if you wear glasses. Here are my two new favorite brow tools: Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade. This stuff ROCKS. It's kind of like a mix between a pencil and a powder and is so natural looking. It's smudge-free and waterproof so you don't have to worry about your brows sliding down your face. Use a stiff angled brow brush to apply like this one
9. Nude liner in your water line
I'm sure you've all heard that white liner in the bottom water line creates a larger, more "awake" look, however, in my years of doing makeup, I have found that NUDE liner (less expensive version here) looks much more natural and gives a beautifully "alert" look.
10. Tap in a little highlighter/shimmer on lower inside corners of eyes
If you have a pretty highlighter in a pearly shade (pinkcreambeige) tap your forefinger in it and dab it in the inside corners, closer to your bottom lid. This one by Benefit has a concealer on one side and a highlighter on the other.

Well there it is, eazy-peezy.

20 things about hair I wish I knew before I was 20

Hey everyone, since I just recently turned 20, I thought why not do a post involving 20 things! I'm going to do a few more of "Top 20s" and such, but for now enjoy this post. These are 20 things I wish I knew about hair before I turned 20!
1. It's just hair.
Up until January, I refused to get my hair cut. Just a trim was noticeable and I didnt want that. I've cried like a baby over cut hair. But in the end, it grows back. Chop it off ladies! Have fun with it and experiment! I promise it grows back. I did a benefit for Locks of Love and cut 26 inches off a ladies hair. It took 10 years off her face and she LOVED it. Long, one length hair isn't always that flattering or special.
2. Lay off the hot tools.
If someone tells you that you have naturally straight hair, you probably have straight hair..  Dont keep going over the same strand multiple times.  I have seen serious breakage from that. Once or twice and then stop. It looks great ,believe me!
3. The quality of your product DOES matter.
As a hair stylist, I am absolutely, positively 100% convinced that the price of salon products are worth it! I promise you that your hair will be grateful! My hair looks and feels better!
4. Scratching your scalp can ruin hair follicles.
Crazy, I know!  But totally true. Use the tips of your fingers vs your nails. Using the tips will get blood flowing and stimulate hair growth.
5. Ponytails can cause damage.
Especially really tight ones! Losen that pony or rock the scrunchie;) And be careful when putting your hair up while its wet. Your hair is most fragile when wet.
6. Your natural hair color is pretty too.
Sad truth? I don't even remember my natural hair color, just because I've colored it so many times. Just because everyone else is doing it, you don't have to color your hair. Especially because nobody has that exact, unique color. Don't be afraid to rock that!
7. Embrace your curls (or lack there of)
You always want what you can't have. But those curls are a great way to get our of doing your hair for a day. Or people with straight hair should embrace the fact they don't have uncontrollable frizz. Embrace and love your hair!
8. French braid pigtails are a no-no.
Don't get me wrong, I think they're adorable on girls under 12...but even 12 is pushing it.
9.Every hair doesn't have to be perfect
There is nothing wrong with being a hot mess. Having straight flat hair is not hot, a little mess is a good thing!
10. Get your split ends cut.
Split ends do not make your hair look long. It looks unhealthy, and people really do notice.
11. Make dry shampoo your go-to
I'm not even sure if this stuff existed while I was younger but man do I wish it did!
12. Less is more
With EVERYTHING.  Less product, less color. It will all benefit you. Less product makes (like dime size quantities) your hair look nice but not borderline greasy. Less coloring,  your hair is going to be healthier!
13. Do not wash your hair every day
All your doing is washing out your hairs natural oils which will not benefit you at all.
14. Stop twirling your hair
If its a habit or out of boredom, it's actually damaging to your hair!
15. Its okay to be different
There's no way in hell I'd have the guts to do the Miley cut, but I honestly wish more girls would. Stop trying to fit in and try to stand out.
16.  Stiffer is not better
Gah what was I thinking.  Looking back, it looks like I tried gluing my hair down.
17. Bad hair days will happen.
Can't tell you how many times I've had good intentions for good hair and it all turned wrong. Also couldn't tell you how many breakdowns I've had because of it. How pathetic.  It's just hair! Grab a cap, headband, ponytail.  Something will save you.
18. Perms aren't that awesome.
One time and one time only. I looked like a poodle. Never get a perm with colored hair. Enough said.
19. Stop picking at your split ends.
Stop picking and just get them cut! Picking and pulling only makes them worse.
20. Appreciate what you have.
It may not be the color you want, the length you want, or it doesn't style how you want, but at least you have hair. I had a 9year old girl donate 14inches of her hair and she said all she wanted for Christmas was to make another little girl happy. And if that doesn't melt your heart, you're wrong.
Someone somewhere would die to have hair like you. So consider yourself lucky.

Get ready with me! My everyday makeup routine!

Hey everyone! I get asked almost daily what I use for makeup or how I achieve my face every day. So I thought I'd share with you the products on use, in what order, and how I apply:)

1.
So I first start by priming my face with Smashbox Photo Finish Face Primer
I just use my hand to apply this all over

2. Next I use L'OREAL True Match (fair/light) as a concealer and to also brighten up underneath my eyes.
I put triangles underneath my eyes and use my flat foundation brush to dab it in.

3. Next I use my foundation Revlon Age Defying in 20 Tender Beige and use my Real Techniques Beauty Blender for a flawless look

4. I then take Maybelline  Fit stick in 330 to contour my face and use my L'OREAL true match to highlight. I use my flat foundation brush to blend and then go back over with my Beauty Blender.
After that, I go over my contoured spots with some bronzer.

5. After going over with bronzer, I use my enhancer/highlighter for more of shiny look on my highlighted parts.

6. Next come my eyebrows. So far, this is the only product you cannot buy at a drug store. I use the Anastasia brow brand in Chocolate. Using the brow gel and pomade I shape them with an angled liner brush.

7.Then I finish up on my eyes. Using Urban Decay EVERYTHING! I use Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. This stuff has seriously changed the game of makeup. My eye shadow last literally ALL DAY! I use their original and also the SIN.

And then I strictly use my two Naked Pallets everyday.

This is how I get my look every day. Its fast, easy simple routine:)

Sephora Trip!

Hey everyone! I'm back and survived my birthday weekend! Like I said in my last post I made a trip to Sephora. After challenging myself to not buy any make up for a whole month, I went to town in Milwaukee.  I was on a mission and I'm in LOVE.
So what I purchased was
Kat Von D lock it foundation: oh em gee. Im in love. This gives flawless makeup look for sure. I was using Tarte Amazon Clay which is also amazing and I probably will purchase again to alternate between the two. But I have honestly never found foundations like these two! Kat Von D was $34 and I tarte was $38.
However, I did purchase Tarte in February and im just now running low. And I hope the same goes for the new foundation! I bought Kat Von D in shade light45
Anastasia Brow Gel: I purchased the brow gel in Chocolate to go along with my Anastasia Pomade and honestly, this gives me my perfect eyebrow!!
$18
Naked 3 Pallet: I wasn't so sure on this pallet because it consists of rose and golds. But let me tell you, I'm glad I purchased it! With my brown eyes these bronze and rose tones go amazing together! I can't wait to do some tutorials. $54
Smashbox primer: I've heard many good things about this primer. I purchased a small contianerr for just $10 . And for a regular bottle its around $42 so I decided to do a test run before I bought the real deal. I currently use Mary Kay face primer and I do really love it and its more in my budget.  I havent had much of a chance with the new primer so I'll have to get back to you on that(:
I also got some free samples that I don't remember right off hand but will definitely be sharing!
