Self- Tanners. Love/Hate

Hey everyone! With having such a long gloomy winter and summer around the corner (unless you live in Wisconsin -_-) I thought I'd do a blog on Self Tanners. Something every girl should look into. Some of you may lay in a tanning bed, but ever since a close loved one of mine was diagnosed with skin cancer, I stopped going that direction and you guys might want to also. So within the last year I have tried some different Self Tanners and will share with you what worked and what didn't!

  • Tanwise Sunless tanning lotion-I bought this at Sally's Beauty. It comes in lotion or foam form. I chose the lotion for better application. Tanwise gives you instant bronze, and continues to develop through out the day. However, if you do not rub it in evenly it will leave noticeable streaks. It also has that "After Tan" smell. It seems to linger until your shower. Yuck. After a couple of uses and getting it evenly applied, I did like the color. But honestly, I probably will not purchase again.
  • Tanwise Self-tanning face gel. This I also bought at Sally's.It was right next to the Tanwise lotion. This product is specifically made for your face and neck area. I love this stuff because we all know how hard it is to keep your face tan.It works great to give you a little to color to match your foundation. It also works immediately but you must let it dry before applying any makeup.I would purchase this product again.
  • Fake Bake. I know- the name sounds horrible but it;s not that bad. I purchased this at CosmoProf but I'm sure you can order it online. This product came with a spritz bottle and a glove. You spritz the bronzer to the sponge likee glove and rub it on to your body.Just like Tanwise, you must have an even application, but the sponge-like glove helps with that. It didn't really have a lingering smell which was great. However, the product quality did not last well over time. I purchased this in August and by February it came out in black splots. I may purchase it again just to use at a faster rate.
  • Jergens Natural Glow. LOVE.LOVE.LOVE. I bought it at Walmart in the Medium shade. The great part about this self-tanner is that it actually moisturizes while tanning you. STEAL! Who wouldn't love that? I use this product religiously every time I get out of the shower. I will definitely be purchasing this again and taking it on every trip I go on.

  •
  •  Airbrush Legs. So yes, this is a leg makeup..however I am a cheater. This stuff gives great color! Why wouldn't I use it on the rest of my body?! I bought it at Walmart in the "Light/Clair" shade. This stuff is seriously amazing. A little goes a long way and it doesn't have a bad smell.WIN! The only down fall I can find with this stuff is that it can easily be washed off. It's not something that's going to gradually make your skin darker the more you use it. I will for sure be buying some in  the future and will use it as my go-to for quick color.

So these are just a few of my favorite, and hated Self-Tanning products. I hope these help you all achieve you flawless, safe tans!

What are your favorite Self-Tanners?

  1. At Sally's, buy St. Thomas spray tan. You need a well vented area or for best place to apply, outdoors or garage works best. But color last weeks and is easy to apply with no streaks. Dries fast and has a colorant to show you where your spraying. Only down fall is the colorant thatbshows areas of application rubs off on clothes, so don't wear white. But clothes come clean when washed! Use this first, then the jergens self tanning lotion for daily use to keep tan longer and skin hydrated for flawless look!!
